I had the fortunate pleasure of working with Brook Construction on the New 4-5 School in Gander, a 55,000 sq ft. facility, and approximately 16 million dollar contract. If this was a race, Brook started with a sprint and kept it up for the entire project, while continuously showing perseverance, professionalism, and complete commitment to the project.
I believe the key to Brook’s success if their collaborative teamwork approach. It is clear this approach starts with their office management staff and extends to their field staff, sub-contractors, suppliers, owner’s representatives, design consultants and all other involved parties. Brook has also embraced technology and the use of software such as Procore which aids in the sharing of information and effective coordination of work.
The Project was not without its challenges, but Brook always took the approach of working with all parties to identify issues early on and being part of the solution, even when these issues were not necessarily their problems to solve. This method allowed Brook and the project team to complete the project in a 17 month period, from the time of the first breaking ground to when the building was first occupied.
